DIY - Lip Tint.

In recently years, the one thing that lost it’s image or importance is the lipsticks. The product itself went through a lot of innovation and R&D. To replace the lame title “lipstick”, many new and attractive names are given to the product; tints, stains, tar, balm, butter, crayon, etc.

This year, the effed up product has been lip tint, and to carry on the multi-tasking band-vegan, the product is developed as “lip and cheek” tint.

Two high-end cosmetic companies are leading the genre in this regard;

The Benefit – Benetint, and,
The Body Shop – Lip and Cheek Tint

As I mentioned they are high-ends brands so they generously priced. Secondly, since the consistence of these tints runny, they do not last very long.

Just to try my hands on one of these products, I recently got my hands on The Benefit Benetint. I will do a separate review on the product soon.

Here I have come up with an economical solution to make your own lip tint. Once again with only few ingredients you can save a heck load of money and invest it to other beauty products. So here goes the recipe:

1. Few drops of Red/Orange/Voilet food color
2. Few drops of Rose Water
3. Pea size glycerin or petroleum Jelly
4. Empty lip-gloss container

Mix the above three ingredient in small proportion, remember patience is the virtue, to reach the semi runny consistency of the tint is important. First mix glycerin and rose water, then add food color. When the desired stain is reached, store it in the empty, sterilized lip-gloss container.

Variation:

If you are reluctant to use food color, use strawberry flavor jelly-o. But you have to be very care and patient in order to maintain the consistency of your tint.

I would appreciate if you share your view and suggestions. Do share pictures of your DIY Lip Tint.

When it comes to makeup brushes, I rarely experiment! I have been a fan of RT Collection for many years now. I will do a separate review soon.

But recently scrolling down my cosmetic seller’s displays, I came across this amazing brush to be used to create smoky eyes. This brush is offered by Essence Cosmetics and they call it “Essence Smokey Eye Brush”.

The Product: The brush head has a rounded tip to develop perfect smudged up look. Soft, concentrated bristles, easy grip and lovely color.

The Package: The plastic carrying case comes with instructs on ways to use the brush.

The Price: Rs. 400/- only. Economical if you consider the quality of the brush.

Dupe Alert: Swiss Miss Face Shiner vs. Mary Lou Manzier

J. Lo has played a vital role in making the illuminated/dewy look popular. Then began a never-ending craze for highlights, illuminaters, etc. Many high and drugstore products gained respect and popularity.

Some of these highlighters deserves all the hype they gained and one of my all time favorite is no other than Mary Lou Manzier. I will do a separate review on the product soon but here I have to share a local dupe of this product.

Swiss Miss is a local brand of Pakistan, commonly  popular for it's nail paints. But I discovered this amazing, they call it Face Shiner, highlighter which turned out to be an amazing dupe of Mary Lou Manzier.

The Product: Highlighter, illuminator or face shiner. After foundation and eye makeup, applied on cheek-bone, brown-bone, chin and bridge of nose. The product is fine with minute shiny particles which has a tendency to perfectly blend as it goes.

The Package: Plastic, transparent container with black lid. The puff that comes with the packing is almost useless as this product is applied with contour brush or fingers. There is a possibility of loosing some product while detaching this puff.

The Price: Rs. 300 only and the product quantity is enough to last you long because a little product goes a long way.

Ways to Wear:

1. Used in contouring to highlight cheekbones, bridge of nose, chin and front of forehead.
2. Used as eye-shadow.
3. Used to give lips a sheer shine when needed.

Kiss Beauty Eye-Shadow Kajal

In the era of liquid, gel and pencil eyeliners, Kajal seems like a royalty. I recall the time when Hashmi Kajal was an essential item of all households and probably the only Kajal brand.

As the time changes not only Kajal went through innovation but also a lot of research and development is done with the product. Recently I came across this brand.

THE PRODUCT: Kiss Beauty Kajal is available in six different colours, black, white, brown, green, blue and purple. All vibrant colors safe to use at water-line. The texture of the product is creamy and glides freely at lash-line and/or water-line.

The product claims to be waterproof but it is not. A renewed application is required after every 3-4 hours. Since the texture is creamy, it is advisable to store it in refrigerator.

WAYS TO WEAR: There can be zillions of ways to wear colour Kajal;

1. Used as Eyeliner: After eyeshadow primer, apply a thin or think layer of Kajal on the lash-line. In order to give a dynamic look merge it with black eyeliner.

2. Used at water-line: Along with your black eyeliner on lash-line, give a sheer application of coloured Kajal on water line.

3. Used as Eye-shadow: Because of the creamy texture of this product, it can be easily used as eyeshadow. The brown and purple colours are perfectly suited for making smokey eye.

4: Combined with White Eyeliner: With white eyeliner at the tear-duct and color eyeliner of your choice at the edges of the eye, it creates a very supple look.

Oriflames Essentials Moisturizing Day Cream Multi-Vit Complex Review

The most abused and ignored organ of a human is probably the skin. As one leaves youth and starts to enter 30s and 40s, the skin requires must more nourishment than the usual routine. Thanks to the busy lifestyles we pursue and the tedious routines we follow, we tend to ignore the demands of our skin. This instigates premature aging process. Which is an other name for skin pigmentation, wrinkles, uneven skin texture and uneven skin tone! The sooner you address the needs of your skin, the better.

But in early your 30’s you would ask yourself, boy, am the age for using anti-aging creams!? Piffft, the denial and the stark realization that you are actually leaving your youth behind! :) Let’s find a win-win situation. Simply induct a “Night and Day” cream in your skin care routine. If you don’t have a skin care routine, develop one!

THE PRODUCT: The first step of choosing a Night and Day cream is to research on brands which are offering this combo. Upon my research I find Oriflames is a Swedish company, in business for over a decade and their skin care product are well reputed among experts.

Oriflames Essentials range is popular and economically priced. The cream itself has a light texture. My skin is normal to combination so on my skin a tiny bit of cream goes a long way. For dry skin types it can do wonders. It keeps the skin soft and supple throughout the day and within a span of week you will see the texture of your skin improving.

The fragrance is soft and engaging. It is definitely a good combination to begin with a more advanced and targeted skin care routine.

THE PACKAGING: The blue and white plastic box packaging. Perfect to carry along if you plan a travel shortly.

THE PRICE: The Day and Night creams offered by other companies are usually highly priced, but Oriflames Essentials Moisturizing Day Cream you can get in only Rs. 470/-, 75ml.
